Taking a ton of photos today is just part and parcel of holding an event of any type. Because of the ease and quality with which photos are taken on today's smartphones, many people are left wondering what to do with all those many photos. With the Smilebox program for Mac, users can easily turn these photos into animated slideshows with a variety of different filters and features to use to make the photos look really unique and entertaining.

Smilebox is a small program for the Mac and Mac OS X systems that is free to download. However, the free version is only going to give you a few of the many features. You can download and use it for free, with no trial expiration, but only the paid version has all the features available. The program's only language is English.

How Smilebox Works

Of all the different photo editors and similar programs you have seen, Smilebox might just be the easiest to use, and also the cleanest in terms of layout. You open the program up and you will see a very simplistic layout with four options on the top: Choose, Personalize, Preview, and Share, Print, DVD. This is very intuitive and does not require a learning curve.

You choose which photos you want, before personalizing them and adding themes, graphics, filters, transitions, etc. Then you can simply preview what you've come up with, before deciding to share with someone else, print out your photos, or even burn them to a DVD.

Smilebox Features

There aren't really a lot of features at all with Smilebox. Everything is right there at the top. It does have a ton of different options inside the Design Catalog feature, however. So if you're looking for a lot of unique filters, transitions and themes, they will all be available in the catalog of the program. You can also mix and match the designs the program offers you and create your own designs, which can then be stored in the My Designs section.

Lastly, the photo collages you use can be stored in the My Creations folder, so you can always have quick access to your work. While another cool application for this program is that you can use it to create greeting cards and more, not just photos. So if it's someone's birthday, anniversary, etc, you can use Smilebox to create something fun and animated for them, not just a picture slideshow.
